With over 35 years of experience, Karen specializes in addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Her extensive training in PTSD, along with a Master of Social Work from Boston College, and a License in Clinical Social Work, has allowed Karen to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health and substance abuse services. As a licensed drug counselor in Massachusetts, Karen holds the LADCI license and is certified as an Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor (CADACII). Additionally, she is certified in Rapid Resolution Treatment (RRT), further enhancing her ability to provide effective therapeutic interventions. Throughout her career, Karen has managed inpatient addiction treatment services and conducted outpatient counseling, including facilitating group sessions and individual therapy. Operations Director
Ed is a dedicated professional who has made a lasting impact in the recovery and addiction treatment/behavioral health field. With a background as a Recovery Specialist (RS), he spent two years tirelessly supporting individuals on their journey to sobriety. Ed's role evolved to that of a compassionate case manager, where he assisted clients in navigating the complexities of their FMLA needs, finding appropriate housing and healthy living situations, connecting them with local support groups, and coordinating essential aftercare programs. After two years in this vital role, Ed's dedication and expertise led him to a more significant role as the Operations Director, where he managed the entire operation of a large addiction treatment facility. For several years, he orchestrated and oversaw the facility's operations, ensuring the highest level of care and support for those on their path to recovery. Brooke holds a Bachelor`s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Bridgewater State University, showcasing her multidisciplinary approach to understanding human behavior. Colleen, originally from Kingston Ma, is a dedicated empathetic primary therapist. She holds a Bachelor degree in Communications with a focus in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. Colleen brings interpersonal skills and a unique blend of holistic insights to her practice. Her dedication to helping individuals overcome substance abuse is fueled by her belief in the power of transformative therapy and with conviction that she could make an impact in the lives of others. Colleen encourages effective communication and the importance of understanding the underlying psychological factors contributing to addiction. Hannah is an esteemed clinician with over nine years of experience in mental health and addiction recovery. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and is currently advancing her expertise by pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at Simmons College. Throughout her career, she has excelled in various pivotal roles, including recovery coaching, clinical therapy, and family support. Her broad experience includes working with diverse client groups, such as incarcerated individuals and adults with severe mental illnesses, highlighting her adaptive skill set and deep compassion. Case Manager
Tony has been in recovery himself and has dedicated the last five years to working in the field of addiction recovery. With a focus on case management and group facilitation, Tony brings both personal experience and professional expertise to his work. His compassionate approach allows him to connect with individuals on a deep level, guiding them through their own recovery journeys. Whether leading group sessions or managing individual cases, Tony is committed to fostering a supportive and understanding environment, helping clients build the skills and resilience needed for lasting recovery.
Michelle
Group Facilitator
Michelle brings 18 years of lived experience to her role, offering compassionate, judgment-free support to individuals with substance use disorders. A graduate of Westfield State University, she has also completed the university’s Recovery Coach Academy and is currently awaiting her State Certification. Her education includes certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention, both through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Additionally, she has completed training in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault court and medical advocacy through Health Imperatives. Before joining Waterside, Michelle worked as a Recovery Coach, Community Support Specialist, Grief Support Specialist, and Youth and Adult Group Facilitator, specializing in addiction recovery.
Alyssa
Business Development
Alyssa has dedicated 15 years to the substance abuse and mental health field, contributing her expertise in various roles including direct care, admissions, recovery coaching, alumni services, marketing, and managing sober houses. Her leadership extends beyond these roles, as she has managed community partnerships in the field for eight years and has served on the boards of organizations such as the AIDS Support Group and Be Free. Alyssa’s professional knowledge is deeply enriched by her own 16-year journey of personal recovery, making her a compassionate and insightful advocate for those seeking help. Outside of her professional life, Alyssa enjoys embarking on adventures with her husband and their two young children, embracing family time whenever possible.
Angelica
Alumni / Community Outreach
Angelica brings over five years of experience working in direct care with individuals struggling with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders. Her roles have included recovery specialist, mental health associate, group facilitator, case manager, and admissions coordinator, providing crucial support to patients in crisis. Trained in de-escalation and certified in CPR, Angelica is currently in her second semester at UMass Boston, pursuing her LADC. She has spent years working within the Plymouth community, raising awareness about the stigma associated with SUD and its impact on recovery. Angelica is the founder of Recovery Moms Helping Moms, a peer support group for mothers in recovery, which provided in-person and virtual resources for several years. She continues to advocate for mothers reuniting with their children.
